FAQs

  • I'm a Michigan artist interested in being a participating author or illustrator. What do I need to do?

You can reach out to us through the Contact Us page. Let us know who you are, what genre you identify with, and why you are interested in participating. 

  • What are my responsibilities as a participant?

We ask that you participate in at least 2 panel discussions of your choosing, in addition to a book signing. Additionally, there will be informal Q&A sessions and Author Mix and Mingles. Book readings and solo author talks are available as the day's schedule allows. 

  • How do I sell my book(s)?

Authors wanting to sell their books will need to have them to either Blue Phoenix or Olivet Books by the evening before the date of the festival so that they can be properly inventoried and merchandised at the locations.


You can ship the books directly to the stores or drop them off in person. (As a note, Olivet specializes in inspirational publications.) Their addresses are as follows:

Sales of the books will be handled through the book store, who will take a 30% consignment fee. Checks will be issued to each author within a few days of the festival.

  • Are there any fees associated with participating? 

Other than the consignment fee associated with book sales, there is no fee to participate as festival author/illustrator.

  • I am traveling a distance to attend, where should I stay?

The Days Inn is offering a discount on rooms if you call directly and mention that you are coming for the festival (989) 356-6118.

There are a few other smaller motels and inns in the city, you can find them at www.visitalpena.com.

 

There are a few other large events occurring the same weekend and we advise you to make reservations earlier rather than later. 

  • I can't attend this year, is there some other way I can help? 

Attendees of the Festival can enter to win prizes from a drawing at the middle and end of the day.  Would you consider helping with the giveaways by donating an item or two to be used as prize? 

We greatly appreciate your consideration of the Festival and please save the date for next year - Saturday, September 23rd, 2017, it is going to be bigger and better as each year passes!
